I devoted my life to a king who was not my own.
On the road to ultimate honor and glory, I lost everything.
Now, in a world ravaged by the whims of those who rule, I must turn my back on a lifetime of friendships and loyalties to face my own fate.
The Savage Prince.
Heir to the high-fae throne of the Southern Lands, he is known for his brutality and cold heart. But with the kingdom on the brink of ruin, I have no choice but to seek him out.
The war between the fae and the witches rages, and there’s no end in sight. My destiny is clear—help the prince defeat his enemies before it’s too late.
One small problem.
I am Rookesbane Eveningstar.
The Favored Child returned, a Witch of the Woods.
The greatest enemy of my Fates-blessed mate.
Rooksbane Eveningstar: dark hair braided, white irises, curvy frame. She’s kind, brave, and helpful to the people who don’t deserve her help, after everything she does to prove she means no harm to the people or his kingdom. She’s the Mother of the Ravenswyrd coven and served in the Sol army after coming back to the southern lands to fulfill her fate: save the kingdom and end the war.
Prince Soren Celestial: long blond hair, blue eyes, tall, lean, ridiculously imbecilic, always complaining about his fated mate. He has a reason: he learned to loathe witches for murdering his people and starting the war. The question is: will the prince of the High Fae fulfill his fate, or go against the Fates themselves?
Airlie Snowsong: blond hair, blue eyes, porcelain skin, tall and lean daughter of Aura Celestial. She’s strong, defiant in her own way. Wife to Roan Snowsong. She loathes witches after the curse was placed on the high fae for never having children. When she meets Rooke, she mistreats her at first, but something happens that helps Airlie and Rooke form a bond of friendship.
Roan Snowsong, prince of the unseelie court, brown hair, gold eyes, bronze skin, son of the seelie prince and the unseelie princess, husband to Airlie Snowsong, and best friends with Prince Soren since faelings. He’s predestined to tell his friend that you cannot change fate, a commander in Prince Soren’s inner circle.
Tuaron: blond hair, blue eyes, a high general protecting Prince Soren on the battlefield, twin to his brother Tyton, and son of Princess Tylle; he’s moody all the time, scowling, protective.
Tyton, blond hair, blue eyes, part of the inner circle, possesses this uncontrollable magic in him, and he hears the trees whisper to him. Twin brother to Tuaron and son of Princess Tylle. More gentle than his brother, not moody or scowling, just frightened and keeping to himself.
Kharl Balzog is a dark warlord who manipulates witches to join him; in doing so, he corrupts their souls. He’s the one who started the war because a seer told him of his fate; he did it out of greed and power.
I give this book 4.0 out of 5 stars. The writing was good and moved at a good pace. I love Airlie and Rooke; they are both defiant in their own ways. Prince Soren, ugh, I couldn’t stand him; he was such a massive prick the entire time and kept complaining about being fated to a witch. The Fates told you themselves She’ll save your people and kingdom, and here you are, being ungrateful.
